Les Aventures Eoliennes

The Aeolian Islands archipelago is located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, about 30 km north of Sicily. The islands bare their name from Aeole: the Greek god of the winds. The morphological evolution of these islands, due to the constant seismic and volcanic activity, is what makes this entire region so mystical.
The archipelago is part of the Messina department and counts seven main islands. A chronological order of the apparition of the different volcanic structures could be thus shown : Panarea, Filicusi, Alicudi, Salina, Lipari, Vulcano and, finally, Stromboli which has not yet reached its 40 000 years of existence. Agriculture, fishing, tourism and the pumice industry are the main economical resources of the Aeolian Islands.
The immaculate sea, the jagged coastlines whose most diverse shapes give onto the sea’s strange color, from flamboyant green to pumice white, black, gray, the crimson of the lava, the yellow of the rocks and beaches whose breathtaking beauty make those islands more than attractive. It’s a feast for the eyes and promises unforgettable memories.
